Zhenzhou Trainee Attorney Provides English Interpretation for Foreign Suspects

    At the assignment of Zhoushan Translators’ Association, Zhenzhou trainee attorney Cao Shi provided English interpretation for 5 foreign suspects in a smuggle investigation. On the afternoon of August 5th, Cao helped police officers of Dinghai station of Zhoushan Public Security Bureau announce arrest warrants to 5 foreign suspects respectively. On the next morning, Cao provided translation in the interrogation of said suspects. This is the first time our Firm applies a combination of skills on legal expertise and foreign language to provide profession assistance on a criminal case since Zhenzhou became a member on the board of Zhoushan Translators’ Association.

    Upon the assignment, Cao reviewed English Version of the Criminal Law, the Criminal Procedure Law and relevant judicial interpretations. In consideration of these preparations, Cao was able to provide an accurate translation to the legal documents, and thus helped building an effective communication between the investigating officers and the suspects.

    Through this experience, Cao has witnessed first hand how officers of Dinghai Station conducted investigation in strict perimeter of the law, assuring legal rights of suspects. He also witnessed how officers of Dinghai Country Jail implemented a humane and legal management.
