Xi’an, formerly known as “Chang’an”, was named after the connotation of “eternal peace”. Xi’an was the capital of thirteen Chinese ancient dynasties, and one of the capitals of the four ancient civilizations. Xi’an was the starting point of the silk road. The city was prevailed with Chinese civilization.

Xi’an is a rich tapestry of 5000 years of Chinese history. Zhenzhou firm took a short but enlightening trip of the city on June 11th, 2020.

First Impression

When the coach slowly goes through Xi’an, the gravitas of history surrounded the passengers along with sceneries of historic attractions like the city gate, the city wall, the drum tower and the bell tower.

When the night falls, an intoxicating breeze that is distinct from that of the South goes up against out faces. As the night goes by, the streets grow busier and more jostling. Thousands of delicious local cuisines and delicacies laid out on the food vendor stands and shops are very inviting.

First Stop Mount Li

From the mountain top to the bottom, we follow the footprint of history. In the temple of Nvwa, a goddess from the ancient Chinese myth, we empathized the spirit of being kind to others and respectful of the nature, which was the core value of Taoism. In Huaqing Palace, we viewed the Tang dynasty buildings and the world famous hot springs, and the love story between the King Li Longji and his favorite concubine Yang. We visited the site of Xi’an Incident, touching the bullet holes on the wall, is almost like reliving that heroic event.

Second Stop Terracotta Warriors

Terracotta Warriors are entitled as the world’s eighth miracle. Walking into the exhibition center, we could see hundreds and thousands of soldiers and horses and carts and weapons. We couldn’t help but noticing the details of the warriors: the outlines of the organs, the organization of the hair and the facial expressions are so life-like. We are startled by the craftmanship of the ancestors and of the recovering experts. It is exactly this kind of spirit and attention to details that we need to inherit and put into action.

We also visited the famous Dayan Pagoda. The tower lies majestically in the twilight, with the soothing ancient music pieces resounding.

Third Stop – Famen Temple

We come to the former Royal Temple-Famen Temple. We have the good fortune to have observed the finger bone of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism. It was the first time this year that the holy relic was put on display.

We also climbed onto the Xi’an City Wall, observing this grand architecture of defense in the Ming Dynasty; We visited Zhao Tomb, where the greatest emperor of the Chinese history-Li Shimen lies. We made a short tour of a local village and were moved by the effort and success of the local farmer’s triumph over poverty.

Xi’an is also well-known for her local delicacies and cuisines. We tasted the famous local thirteen-dish banquet, chunked in the roasted sheep, and other lamb based local cuisines. We also appreciated the local alcohol-Xifeng. One sip of the liquor with a mouthful of the lamb, the flavour was enough to last for a long time.

During the 3 day trip, we were lost in the natural and historical grandeur of the City, and felt temporarily relieved from the case loads and the hard work. We come back to Zhoushan with a refreshed heart and a rejuvenated mind, ready to go back to our clients and work, to continue with our legal service of high quality, and strive for the better future of Zhenzhou Firm.
